Grant #3192005 Cover Crop Application
Now accepting cover crop applications for potential cost share assistance through our 3192005 grant for areas within the Lake Springfield Watershed. There will be a 100 acre maximum per producer/landowner until the deadline of June 30th, 2021. After that deadline it will be first come first serve until our allocated acres are reached. All cover crop application rates must meet NRCS specs and standards, see below.

Ball Chatham School - Shallow Water Wetland Area
Sangamon County SWCD recently completed a wetland restoration project at Ball Chatham Elementary School with the help of the US Fish and Wildlife Service.
Sangamon County SWCD is now taking 2020 S.T.A.R. Program signups! This will be a requirement going forward to be eligible to receive Department of Agriculture CPP funding on resource concern projects. Click the link below to learn more and get started!
Soil Health Partnership Dinner Event
On July 25th, the Soil Health Partnership along with Sangamon County SWCD and our partners hosted a dinner event with guest speaker Dr. Shalamar Armstrong. Dr. Armstrong presented on the impacts of cover crops and 4R nitrogen management on water quality and agronomics. A HUGE thank you to all of our sponsors and guests that attended!
Ball Chatham Prairie Restoration
The Sangamon County SWCD has partnered with Chatham School District, Pheasant Forever - Sangamon County Chapter, Naturkin Network, USFWS Partners Program, Illinois Department of Transportation, Illinois Clean Energy Foundation and Lincoln Memorial Garden on a Youth Pollinator Habitat Program on over 10 acres at Ball Elementary.
