False Indigo 1'-2' (Bundle of 5)
Mature Height: 10-15' tall
Soil/Climate: False Indigo is native to North America, growing wild throughout the lower 48 states, as well as southeastern Canada. Suitable for sandy and loamy soils, prefers dry or moist soil, can grow in nutritionally poor soil and tolerate drought. Makes a good highway shrub due to its high tolerance of salt. Full sun to partial shade.
Notes: False Indigo flowers are small, purple to dark blue with yellow stamens appearing from April to June. Grows in loose, airy thickets commonly along streams. Fast grower. Often planted as an ornamental. Small fruit, up to 3/8" long. Compound leaves are 6-16" long. Plant 10 - 15' apart.
Wildlife: Nectar from flowers attracts bees, butterflies, and other nectar eating insects.
