The triploid grass carp is an excellent alternative to using chemicals for weed control in ponds and lakes. They are genetically incapable of reproducing. When proper numbers are stocked they will eliminate the need to use chemical herbicides for weed control. Stocking rates depend on the amount of weeds present and the size of the pond, so, be ready to answer questions about your pond(we can advise you about the number you need in your situation). You will need to restock your pond, dependent upon severity of the weed problem, every 4-6 years as the fish grow older.
